Celebrating the power of the sun as we got #solarpanelsfrom @brightlifesolar installed on the California summer casa. Using natural energy from the sun to power our needs & lifestyle is so great. In California the sun shines almost everyday so solar energy is such a great solution. Good solar panels also works good with cloudy conditions, so don't get discouraged if you don't live in sunny areas. In Norway, where I come from, and in Scandinavia in general, hydro & wind is utilized often. Solar is also used in many countries in Europe like England & Germany. Do you have solar or natural energy at your home or places you go visit? I’m curious to hear about your experiences with it and if it’s been a positive switch for you. I hope renewable energy like solar, alongside with wind and hydro power will be prominent in the way we harness energy in the future 🌎 🌊🙏🏻

SUSTAINABILITY
I loooove and enjoy the process of planting from seed to full grown flower or harvest. Bringing my presence into this process is beautiful because it connects me to the natural world in such a special way. Reaping the benefits of what we plant is like an added gift. Life and gardening is quite similar. We plant seeds. Water & nurture. Love & give patience. Let go. And then, suddenly, we get to harvest the fruits of our labor of love. But, we need to give our attention and presence to each step along the way. And accept and love it just as it is. The fruits are equal to short moments of pleasure, that eventually will be gone (eaten) Then, the cycle starts over again. We humans have everything in common with nature. We just tend to forget sometimes. During winter time we bundle up to protect ourselves from the cold and hide as we prepare for lighter times to come. When spring comes, we shed our layers, gain color and start blooming like we are born a new. We are connected to everything and there are no walls separating us. Our primary purpose is not what we do, but to Be fully PRSNT in what we choose to do.
Farming and gardening brings me into the now so easily. Its a meditative act where I connect with the plants and myself. I have been practicing permaculture since I earned my permaculture design certificate back in 2014. It´s such a beautiful approach to gardening, landscaping, farming and more. I use principles from permaculture in my day to day life. Getting to grow the food I eat is such a beautiful bond. What we eat becomes a part of our presence, energy, spirit, footprint and essentially our performance, I have become such a big fan of eating clean and supporting good practices. My dream and goal is to be able to live and eat mostly straight off the land.
PERMACULTURE GARDENING I ABUNDANT HARVEST
Permaculture design is a system of assembling conceptual, material, and strategic components in a pattern which functions to benefit life in all its forms. The philosophy behind permaculture is one of working with, rather than against, nature; of protracted and thoughtful observation rather than protracted and thoughtless action; of looking at systems in all their functions, rather than asking only one yield of them; and allowing systems to demonstrate their own evolutions. It amazes me what happens when we actually write down our goals and start taking action to invest in them...
On a rainy day in the fall of 2016, after a work out in my garage, I wrote down some thoughts on a piece of paper. I don't know if you can relate, but often when I am in movement, I feel really creative and inspired to take on life. It´s something about the natural aspect of being in the flow of movement that ignites me, sparks my inside flame and brings me the confidence to think I can take on the world :)
I started to scribble away on the paper and said to myself to just let anything come out - not to judge my thoughts or feel like it had to be perfect. I had a blurry vision and it needed to come out in the shape and form it wanted to. Eventually, I paused and realized that my vision had become more clear as I put the words on my paper. I saw that I had created myself some pretty epic, abstract goals. It sounded something like this:
I am here to guide meditation to big and small groups, help spread love and compassion and elevate the collective consciousness. Keywords: Big room, people meditating and breathing together, another form of speaking gig where we are elevating together. The audience is feeling and doing, not only listening...
How will I attract this: Take a meditation course and be open to every opportunity. I will attract this naturally as I am following my inner compass (heart)
I didn't really know what, when, where this goal would manifest, but I folded the paper and knew that because I had followed my heart, I would not need to fight to make this happen...In December 2017 I started studying meditation with an online program.
Skip forward about 6 months as I find myself in New York, at the United Nations Head Quarters. During the winter Olympics in South Korea I had received an invitation by the UN president himself to the #Youth72 Dialoge together with professional athletes, Chanelle Sladics and Klaudia Medlova. As we arrived at the UN I was told that I had a spot to speak during the open mic session. At first, I panicked, as I didn't know what to talk about on such short notice, on such an "important" stage. But, as the president himself opened up the conference by saying, the more raw and organic, the better, I felt sort of calmer. The planner in me wanted to prepare so badly but the freestyler in me spoke louder. I took the challenge to let go of control and trust that whatever came out on stage was perfect for the moment. I walked nervously on to the stage with my bare feet...

When I came back home I found some old notes on a piece of paper. To my surprise (yes, I had forgotten about what I wrote on that rainy day) I had accomplished the abstract goal I wrote down about a year ago. Looking back at this video reminds me that when we follow our inner compasses we will start to attract what is true to us and what belongs to us...
So I want to ask you some questions:
What are you dreaming about?
Do you have any goals written down at the moment?
If not, what is preventing you from writing down your goals and dreams?
What needs to change in order for you to start writing down your goals and take action on them?
We can’t ignore the fact that the health of our planet is in a state of urgency, meaning we need to act and do something different in order to reverse and rebuild what has been worn and torn down... natural playgrounds are being polluted and resources are being depleted, rapidly. I think that the outside is a reflection of what is happening on the inside. Can the state of our planet be a reflection of what is happening on our inside? I feel like as a collective we humans are not so healthy. We have so many individual problems. We waste. We care about what we look like, what others think about us, if we are good at something and so on. We let the ego sit in the driver seat, wrapped up in our thoughts and beliefs, comparing and constantly finding ways to separate us from each other and from our surroundings. We have more disease than ever. Meanwhile, earth is getting warmer, oceans are getting contaminated and animals are trapped in our mindless line of trash... This blog post is not meant to be negative, yet I think it’s an important topic to speak about. I´m not saying that I’m doings something better than you, that is the ego again. I’m just saying that we have the opportunity to help turn things around for the better of our planet...
I’m a part of the @protectourwinters athlete alliance and I see what an amazing job #pow is doing to help protect our winters and beyond. With this message I hope to reach outdoor people who care for our planet, to get involved in the electoral process. I also hope to reach YOU, as everyone can be an environmentalist. @protectourwinters have just launched the @pow_action_fund where real action on policy can happen!!! Since there is power in numbers we hope you will join us on this new and important venture. Head over to POWActionFund.org to learn more about our mission, initiatives and ways to get involved. Together, let’s turn our passion into purpose and realize the true potential and power this community holds. And show the climate deniers in office the door.
I love being outdoors & aim to help protect our natural playgrounds as much as I can, so future generations can enjoy it too 🌎 I experience that temperatures are getting warmer and snow seasons are getting shorter and I know that the environment is in a state of emergency. But in order to help the glove getting warmer we need everyone. We need a global cooperation
In April 2018 we hosted a @bprsnt women’s adventure retreat in Lofoten Norway. The week we were in Lofoten we saw rapid snow melt and we had to hike with our boards on our backs for a while before we even found snow. We still had such a good time,
connecting with each other and the outdoor. Speaking of, spending time outdoors is amazing, but with the current state of the globe & in order to keep our natural playgrounds accessible, we need to merge our passion for the outdoors with action that actually help protect it. Whether we have a large, medium or small stage, we are all role models for someone in our life’s and we have a footprint that matter... because in order to change everything we need everyone
If you want to be a part of @protectourwinters or any of their national extensions you can follow their account or go to powactionfund.org and www.protectourwinters.org to find out how, when there is a climate march near you and how you can get involved in general.
WHEN PEOPLE #STOPSUCKING TOGETHER
I am proud to be an ambassador for Simply Straws because they are a responsible brand, with an aim to make this world a better place. By educating people about how harmful plastics, and especially single-use plastics, are for the environment and by providing us with a reusable alternative, they are truly an inspiration to me. Their products are so elegant and I love bringing my straws on my travels. Recently the news channel Buzzfeed created a video where one of the employees challenged her co-workers to stop using plastic straws for a week. The #stopsucking was used to get people motivated to jump on the challenge. Co-founder of Simply Straws, Chanelle Sladics and I went up to LA and handed out Simply straws glass straws to everyone who joined the challenge. A few months later, the video they made has gone viral and been seen over 10 million times online!! am so grateful and happy to see good things go viral. That is in my opinion what we need - not something silly thing about who married who or what celebrity had a baby. I feel that the anti-single-use-plastic movement is finally picking up some well deserved momentum. In 2002 Bangladesh became the first county to ban the use of thin plastic bags. That is almost 20 years ago now!! With more individuals waking up to the problem and governments jumping onboard, I see a brighter light at the end of the tunnel. Taiwan has for example a goal is to ban plastic straws entirely by 2030. I am so proud to be a voice and extension of Simply Straws and help spread the message to help eliminate plastic straws. So what do you say? Are you ready to jump onboard and #stopsucking ?!!

By 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. It is fair to say that our natural playgrounds are being polluted and compromised on a daily basis. One of the biggest issues is single-use plastic, like plastic straws. They are used for minutes, then disposed and they never really break down. Therefore they become poison to our marine life, our environment and eventually to us as we eat the fish.
WHAT IS THE SOLUTION?
We go through soooooooo many plastic straws each day (Americans alone use over 500.000 each day - yes that's almost two straws per capita) - I am officially shocked!
This is a real problem, that needs our attention so we can work on solutions to reverse it. The good thing is that radical things are happening in the STRAWLESS world. Adrian Grenier (the very good looking actor from Entourage) has started an NPO called Lonely Whale Foundation and they have launched a HUGE campaign that is going viral around disposable plastic straws!! Together with Simply Straws, they challenged me to #StopSucking. Now I'm challenging WHOEVER reads this, to join me and put attention on this issue.

WHAT ARE SOME ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY ALTERNATIVES TO PLASTIC STRAWS?
Maybe you are a sucker for straws and are wondering about earth-friendly alternatives to plastic straws. I was personally never I big user of straws, but when I learned that they can help protect our teeth from stains, sensitivity and erosion, I was intrigued. When I realized we go through soooooooo many plastic straws each day (Americans alone use over 500.000 each day - yes that's almost two straws per capita) I was shocked! As I don't want to create more waste just so I can sip my drinks, I started seeking out reusable alternatives.
Simply straws are at the forefront in providing reusable glass straws that can be used over and over and over again. They go in the dishwasher and frankly, the beverages taste so much better when sipped through glass, compared to plastic, paper or aluminum. Glass does not leak any chemicals that harm our hormone system and to me that makes so much sense. I simply don't want chemicals in my body. Learn more about the Simply Straws collection and find out what their best-selling straws are.
Use your voice to be a force for good. The less plastic we use, the less end up in our oceans and marine life. Are you in or are you gonna keep sucking? :)
