PRESS RELEASE For immediate release

Celebrating TUDOR’s #BornToDare spirit, David Beckham joins Norwegian Olympic snowboard medallist Kjersti Buaas in a backcountry adventure in the Alps.

The TUDOR brand signature #BornToDare reflects both the history of the brand and what it stands for today. It refers to the vision of Hans Wilsdorf, founder of TUDOR, who manufactured his watches to withstand the most extreme conditions. It represents the adventures of the daring individuals who have achieved the extraordinary with a TUDOR watch on their wrist. #BornToDare is a testimony to TUDOR's pioneering and cutting-edge approach to watchmaking, leading to the brand's innovations becoming industry benchmarks.

In line with the brand’s signature daring spirit, and after sending David Beckham freediving underwater off Miami earlier this year, TUDOR recently invited their ambassador to step out of his comfort zone again for a backcountry snowboarding experience in the Alps. In a short video simultaneously released by Beckham, Kjersti Buaas and TUDOR, Beckham can be seen learning under the guidance of the Norwegian four-time Olympian and Olympic medallist in half-pipe, snowboarding. Climbing the mountain in the early hours wearing headlamps, the pair reach the top of a high-altitude slope with virgin snow and enjoy a secluded first-track down the mountain. “It's a great thing to be behind, and try and learn from a world-class athlete. It's been an incredible experience and I want to do more. What do we do next? I don't know. It's like we say, born to dare.”, Beckham said of his experience.

TUDOR BLACK BAY P01

This robust watch is equipped with a high-performance TUDOR Manufacture calibre complete with silicon balance-spring and 70-hour power reserve. Buaas was wearing the Black Bay with burgundy bezel and matching fabric strap, a vintage-inspired diving watch in homage to over 60 years of perfecting the ideal time-keeping instrument for divers.

THE ANSWER TO OUR "LIFE PURPOSE"

KJERSTI BUAAS HUDSEN COLLECTIVE MITTENS 5 BY DAVE LEHL.jpg
I am at peace with that it does not really matter what I do or that my “doing” is secondary. It’s how I do it and if I am bringing my full presence to it that leaves me feeling fulfilled and is my primary purpose

BRING YOUR FULL PRECENCE TO WHATEVER YOU DOP: @BPRSNT

BRING YOUR FULL PRECENCE TO WHATEVER YOU DO

P: @BPRSNT

Some of us love what we do and some don’t at all. Some things and tasks feels overwhelming, boring etc & some are simply things we care for & love doing. The truth is that if we are doing a job, task or activity that we really enjoy, we are naturally tapping into our Being. Then it feels like a dream, we are creative and feel purpose. If we are doing a job that we don’t like, we most likely don’t care to bring our full focus into it. Many of us are doing jobs that we don’t like or connect with or find any purpose in. We might feel stuck and “unhappy” and not fulfilled at all. For some of us our health is compromised by what we do. Yet, still, we might not want to change that job because it is stable and secure. Or maybe we are scared of change because we are identifying ourself, our value and self worth so much with what we do. It’s not uncommon for us humans to do so, in fact that how we typically condition our selfs.

If we don’t want to we don’t necessary have to change the job or task, but rather look at how we are doing what we are doing. Ask your self questions like: Am I present in my job? Does what I do get my full attention? Am I bringing laughter and playfulness into my “doing”? Am I taking my “self” very seriously or can I be lighthearted while doing this task? Am I just doing this task as a means to an end? Am I depending my self worth on this outside condition? How identified am I with what I do? When your “doing” is filled with presence, you allow for your Being to shine & you start to shed the layers of identification. The ego can’t tolerate the sun rays from your being - it will dissolve when you bring awareness to it. When you allow for your Being to ripple into what ever you are doing, your doing suddenly comes to life, becomes creative, vibrant and will therefor also be experienced as joyful. My favorite place to be is in the now. It’s when I feel fulfilled

Turn our passion into purpose - Protect our winters

We can’t ignore the fact that the health of our planet is in a state of urgency, meaning we need to act and do something different in order to reverse and rebuild what has been worn and torn down... natural playgrounds are being polluted and resources are being depleted, rapidly. I think that the outside is a reflection of what is happening on the inside. Can the state of our planet be a reflection of what is happening on our inside? I feel like as a collective we humans are not so healthy. We have so many individual problems. We waste. We care about what we look like, what others think about us, if we are good at something and so on. We let the ego sit in the driver seat, wrapped up in our thoughts and beliefs, comparing and constantly finding ways to separate us from each other and from our surroundings. We have more disease than ever. Meanwhile, earth is getting warmer, oceans are getting contaminated and animals are trapped in our mindless line of trash... This blog post is not meant to be negative, yet I think it’s an important topic to speak about. I´m not saying that I’m doings something better than you, that is the ego again. I’m just saying that we have the opportunity to help turn things around for the better of our planet...

I’m a part of the @protectourwinters athlete alliance and I see what an amazing job #pow is doing to help protect our winters and beyond. With this message I hope to reach outdoor people who care for our planet, to get involved in the electoral process. I also hope to reach YOU, as everyone can be an environmentalist. @protectourwinters have just launched the @pow_action_fund where real action on policy can happen!!! Since there is power in numbers we hope you will join us on this new and important venture. Head over to POWActionFund.org to learn more about our mission, initiatives and ways to get involved. Together, let’s turn our passion into purpose and realize the true potential and power this community holds. And show the climate deniers in office the door.

During @bprsnt women’s adventure retreat in Lofoten Norway we got together a global community and brought a #pow flag out with us hiking the mountains. As a community of mountain loving, outdoorsy women, we hope to help create awareness around #pow

I love being outdoors & aim to help protect our natural playgrounds as much as I can, so future generations can enjoy it too 🌎 I experience that temperatures are getting warmer and snow seasons are getting shorter and I know that the environment is in a state of emergency. But in order to help the glove getting warmer we need everyone. We need a global cooperation

BPRSNT WOMENS ADVENTURE RETREATS POW

In April 2018 we hosted a @bprsnt women’s adventure retreat in Lofoten Norway. The week we were in Lofoten we saw rapid snow melt and we had to hike with our boards on our backs for a while before we even found snow. We still had such a good time,

connecting with each other and the outdoor. Speaking of, spending time outdoors is amazing, but with the current state of the globe & in order to keep our natural playgrounds accessible, we need to merge our passion for the outdoors with action that actually help protect it. Whether we have a large, medium or small stage, we are all role models for someone in our life’s and we have a footprint that matter... because in order to change everything we need everyone

If you want to be a part of @protectourwinters or any of their national extensions you can follow their account or go to powactionfund.org and www.protectourwinters.org to find out how, when there is a climate march near you and how you can get involved in general.

GLUTES & CORE WARM UP

In all seriousness of exercising and training, it's important to remember to have fun and get a little weird. These are warm up exercises are great because they can be done literally anywhere. They require little to no equipment and you even get to go upside down and see the world from a different perspective. Any bands can be used, but we recommend you choose a band with medium resistance, that is completed so you don't have to tie it. Your "glutes " will thank you for the warm welcome!

Wrap the band around your shoulder and leg and move your leg up and down.Squeeze your butt when leg is in the straight position. Repeat 10 times on each side.

Position 2: Take your leg forward and bend the knee. Then move your leg back to position 1 immediately.

A season of "firsts"

Photo from Revelstoke in Canada by Matt Georges

Photo from Revelstoke in Canada by Matt Georges

I have some exciting news to share with you all as I’m so excited to announce that I am one of eight women who gets to compete on the Freeride World Tour this season. I want to challenge myself in a different element, outside of the park to take my snowboarding and experiences to the next level. To me snowboarding is all about exploring potential and creativity, something I belive this terrain will provide!

Thus I will challenge myself in some of the most difficult faces in the world this winter I am not letting go of the park just yet. I will also compete in the biggest slopestyle and big air events this season, like XGames in Oslo, European Open and the Nine Queens.

Here is a quote from my national team coach Per Iver Grimsrud about my plans for the season: «This is huge. Kjersti is a candidate to win X Games with her frontside 1080, and will at the same time be taking on the gnarliest freeride competitions in the world. This is unique. She handled the transition from halfpipe to slopestyle and now it will be interesting to see how she handles the transition to freeriding To compete in both the freestlye and freeride world tour simultaneously has to our knowledge, not been done before.»

I want to thank the Norwegian National Team and support system and the Norwegian Snowboard Federation for all the back up I have gotten though out my career. It's amazing that they believe so much in the riders uniqueness and gives us thumbs up when we want to do something that is maybe a bit "outside the box".

It has always been attracting to me to compete because I give it all when the pressure is on. This is a huge challenge, where I will have the opportunity to use my experiences as a contest rider, in a unknown, exciting and natural element. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to go into a season with a beginners mind, where creativity, curiosity and spontaneity are key players. It is not often we get to do that, as when we practice something and get better at it, our mindsets tend to become more single tracked and maybe dominated by routines and predictability.

As a competitor on the Freeride World Tour I am guaranteed a spot in the three first events in Andorra, Chamonix and Fieberbrunn. If I perform well I will qualify for the season finales in Alaska and Verbier!

I want to take a moment to thank everyone who continuously is supporting me on my journey... everyone from sponsors and colleagues to friends and to strangers who has become friends along the way. I am so excited to embark on another adventure of a season, filled with "first" (as in I have never done before) and fun!
